Homeowners concerned about economic uncertainty are renovating their kitchens with an eye on long-term value and usability. In the process, they’re choosing simple cabinet designs and finishes that won’t soon go out of style and making the most of a shrinking footprint.
“People are building smaller homes and packing in as much quality as possible,” says Michael Bright, owner and designer of Bright Woodworks in Saint Petersburg, Fla. “The kitchen is probably the best place to do it. Everyone wants to trick out their cabinets to make big use of a small space.”
