Luxury German appliance manufacturer Gaggenau’s new Vario cooling 200 series offers designers three refrigeration appliances that feature opulent details.
Offering a refrigerator, freezer, and fridge-freezer combo, the Vario cooling 200 series features subtle elegance, high performance, and a “human touch,” Gaggenau says.
“With our newly launched Vario cooling 200 series, we wanted to explore and develop the user experience that these appliances offer the kitchen landscape,” says Sven Baacke, head of design. “We believe that the kitchen is the heart of the home and Gaggenau is the soul of the kitchen, so we used warm design features to emulate this and to humanize an environment which can often be dominated by cold, advanced technology. The enhanced experience guarantees a high quality, effortless cooling experience with each use.”

Design details, such as light bronze-colored interiors, warm LED lighting, and maple wood wine bottle holders, add a “human touch” to the appliances’ design, the company says. Additionally, these design choices offer an “inviting glow.”
Gaggenau says the kitchen features impersonal, cold equipment, and its Vario cooling 200 series fights against this. Interior components, such as door bins and shelves, feature Gaggenau’s light bronze color: a metal hue with a satin finish. The fridge and freezer drawers also feature cushioned rail for soft movements and graduated frosted glass fronts.
When displayed next to one another, the refrigerator and freezer pair well due to their mirrored designs. The same interior organization features inside the refrigerator are seen in the freezer.

Up to five wine bottles can be placed inside the refrigerator. These maple holders magnetize together for seamless connections and customizable organization. The holders can store both regular and magnum-sized wine bottles, and the Vario cooling 200 series also offers a matching wine climate cabinet.
Interior shelves are height adjustable and feature optiwhite glass plates that appear almost invisible. Gaggenau says warm LED lighting helps to “enhance the true color of fresh produce” in both the refrigerator and freezer. Optiwhite shelving helps to maximize the interior lighting by allowing light to pass through, the company says.
Homeowners can manually adjust the humidity levels of the refrigerator, which helps keep food fresh. The refrigerator also offers a fresh cooling drawer that dips down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. On the freezer side, homeowners can utilize no-frost and fast-freezing technologies.
All Vario 200 cooling appliances are designed to fit into 70-inch niches and are panel-ready.
