One of the largest brickmakers in North America, Glen-Gery, has launched its very first ceramic ventilated façade cladding system.
Terraçade, the manufacturer says, is a new system that is made with highly durable, energy-efficient and safe materials that don’t compromise style or beauty. In addition to its diverse range of colors and finishes, Terraçade offers easy installation and low maintenance, making it a win-win for architects and contractors.

“Today’s architects and designers are not only looking for advanced building solutions, but also stylish products that will make a statement,” says Mark Ellenor, president of Brickworks North America, parent company of Glen-Gery. “Driven by innovation, the new Terraçade system provides fire resistance, low-maintenance upkeep, and design versatility to meet diverse architectural and design styles.”
Terraçade includes ceramic tiles that come in a wide range of colors (17 right now) and such as Sand Blast, which offers textured organic finish; Smooth, earthy colors in smooth matte finishes; Glazed, offering bold colors and lustrous finish; and Watermark, providing the low maintenance benefits of ceramics, with a timber grain finish. The system also comes with a wide array of accessories and system components to make installation quick and easy.

Brickworks North America says the system meets strict performance standards and offers the following benefits:
- Prefinished and colorfast: Terraçade tiles are engineered to not fade or change color to maintain life-long vibrancy.
- High durability: Terraçade tiles are made from natural clay material for durability, maximum strength, and impact resistance. The façade system can easily withstand all forms of extreme weather, from intense UV and heat, to heavy storms and freezing temperatures.
- Safe: Terraçade tiles are made from non-combustible material.
- Energy efficient: Terraçade tiles have a completely maintenance-free finish that is low carbon and energy efficient. Its sustainable material naturally assists with airflow and energy reduction.
Terraçade is essentially a ventilated facade, a cladding system in which there is a physical separation or air space between the outside of the façade and the wall of the building. The open cavity permits air flow, which results in a range of thermal, acoustic, aesthetic and functional advantages.
