Italian Lighting Brand Debuts New Collection Made From Sinuous Concrete

Italian lighting company Foscarini has expanded its collection of suspension lights with a new version made with thin, finely detailed concrete.

“The wide, flattened top resembles the galactic silhouette of a UFO and is fitted with an LED light source that casts a wide beam of light onto the surface underneath,” the company says.

Made by Italian artisans through a craft-based technique of concrete processing, the Aplomb fixture’s signature feature is a slim form mixed with a “thickness and texture of concrete that is not too harsh to the touch,” the company explains. It’s also made from aluminum and polycarbonate.

Aplomb Large is available in three colors—white, grey, and brown—and can be grouped together, and is versatile in use: it can be placed over a table, a kitchen island, or a counter, at home or in commercial settings.
