Jeld-Wen Unveils Two New Residential Door Products

Moda Rustic doors add a farmhouse touch, Foundry Finishes give fiberglass doors a real-iron look

Jeld-Wen has unveiled two introductions, the Moda Rustic interior door and Foundry Finishes, a new collection of finishes that pair with fiberglass doors to recreate the look of real iron.

Brand-new for 2020, the stile-and-rail Moda Rustic interior door is designed for a  standard-sized residential doorway. If a consumer wants to use Moda Rustic doors in a larger space, they can use Jeld-Wen’s DesignGlide hardware to create a soft-close, sliding single-or-double barn door.

“Equally at home in a modern farmhouse or chic loft, the Moda Rustic interior door combines beautiful wood veneer with modern, flat-panel styles and translucent glass to bridge the gap between contemporary elegance and rustic flare,” the company says.

Using a knotty, white-cedar veneer, the company aims to create a barn-inspired door that captures the look of natural wood. Intended for both remodels and new residential construction projects, consumers can use the door to complete a cabin’s look or add a rustic touch to a modern home, according to the company. An added bonus: Its solid core dampens sounds to reduce noise when compared to a door with a hollow core.

The door comes unfinished so consumers can stain the door to match their home’s interior--or they can elect to finish it with a clear coat to let the white cedar shine. For further customization, Jeld-Wen offers 21 different panel and glass configurations.

Jeld-Wen’s new collection, Foundry Finishes, is designed to pair with IWP Aurora fiberglass exterior doors to “bring the prestige and artisan appearance of iron to a line of exceptional entry doors designed for durable performance and easy maintenance,” according to the company.

“Iron doors create a desirable look with the benefit of added security,” the company says. “Using real iron or steel, however, means accepting poor thermal properties such as overheating in summer and frosting during winter.”

Unlike real iron, the low-maintenance fiberglass will not have the metal’s reactions to extreme temperatures, according to the company. Additionally, the fiberglass doors resist denting, shrinking, and damage from the elements.

The finishes are available in five standard colors: metallic black, flat black, silver, medium bronze, and a tumbled white bronze, which is several shades lighter than the medium bronze. If consumers want to get creative, they can also ask Jeld-Wen to create a custom finish for their specific project.

The company can finish any IWP Aurora door with Foundry Finishes, or they can use a consumer’s custom design. However, consumers do not even need to customize the door to receive a door to call their own: Because each door is hand-finished in a multistep process, the finished product is inherently unique. For a complete look, the company features a collection of glass, grilles, hardware, and accents that can pair with a consumer’s chosen finish.
