French luxury switches brand Meljac has developed a new solid brass collection in collaboration with Australian designer Marc Newson.
The new range of products in the Solaris collection, which are made from brass and features elegant curves, is aesthetically bold and pleasantly satisfying to the touch, the company says.

"We are very proud of this new line, the result of 18 months of painstaking research and development,” says Jean-Michel Lagarde, managing director of Meljac. “The partnership with Marc Newson showcases Meljac’s expertise and its unique role as a testbed for bespoke products, making it highly sought after by architects and designers. Our company’s strength lies in its high-end innovation—it is a pioneer in its sector."
The Solaris collection features a screwless design, remodeled curved edges, a new slender, flattened toggle, and a flush concave push button. Meljac says the innovative, carefully designed shapes offer ease of use and a unique and satisfying tactile experience.

Offering contrasting finishes, the pieces have a brushed brass finish on the plate and a shiny black base on the toggle that accentuates the entire line.
The pieces are designed for low voltage (smart homes) and can be adapted for line voltage. Specifiers may choose from a variety of finish options, including toggle in the same color as the plate, shiny black base ring, or black push button. In addition, designers may order customizable units with engraved or screen-printed words, symbols, pictograms, symbols, or pictograms.

Meljac’s collab with Newson is another in a long line of partnership for the prolific Australian designer. Described as one of the most influential designers of his generation, Newson has designed a wide varierty of products for such well-known brands as Louis Vuitton, Montblanc, Hermès, Nike, Dom Pérignon, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Ikepod watches.
Launched in 1995, Meljac is known for luxury electrical equipment that are distributed globally, including the U.S. The company has about 15 collections encompassing a large range of options, such as switches, sockets, lamps, reading lights, thermostats, home automation controls, and more.
