A New System That Detects Water Leaks and Shuts Them Off

WaterleakXSystems has launched a new system that detects water leaks in a house, sends alerts to the homeowner, and turns the water off at the source.

Excelsior, Minn.-based WaterleakXSystems has launched a new system that detects water leaks in a house, sends alerts to the homeowner, and turns the water off at the source.

Preventing water damage 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, the WaterleakXSystems features a Central Controller that sends a text or an email with the exact location of the leak and water shutoff status to as many as three email addresses or mobile numbers.

The manufacturer says components in the system are fully customizable using radio waves to monitor up to 49 sensors. Skinny Sensors detect water under appliances or wherever there is low clearance, and an optional Well Relay can be added to control a well pump. (The valve can be used to relieve the pressure from the well tank.)

Price at around $1,295, the Basic System is easy to install, the manufacturer says, and includes the Central Control Unit, Water Detection Sensors, Valve Control Unit, and Water Shutoff Valve. A battery backup protects during a power outage, and the optional Signal Repeater/Temp Sensor can be added to detect and report the temperature extreme set points that the homeowner sets.
